Video of the Day: Tron Legacy Trailer 2
Disney have today released a new trailer for Tron Legacy, a Tron sequel, funnily enough. Revel in the Daft Punk, the digitalness and Jeff Bridges and somehow, the fact it’s still a 80’s throwback.
It’s in Digital 3D, or whatever that is quite supposed to mean, I’m not sure, but it sure looks good, even if I know practically nothing about it. But I do know we’re going to have to wait all the way till December 17th in order to see it in theatres.
It was possibly the biggest adverstising event in the world last night. The US Superbowl, as well as attracting thousands to the stadium, is watched by millions in pubs, clubs and living rooms across the world and therefore is seen by advertisers as a prime target to bombard us with the blockbusters of the advertising world. Sometimes.
This year, all the unfounded speculation of what was going to appear was instead surpassed by Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The video game-movie tie in, based roughly on the PS2 era games in the series, is coming to cinema’s soon, promoting action, romance and lots of playing with time.
I didn’t really expect to see this becoming as big a blockbuster as it has been hyped or to be, or it’s just a marketing budget it felt like blowing. Either way, here is the trailer. Now I’m going to go collapse, following a podcast/Video series recording which ended up being crazy long. Expect nothing coherent on GE for quite some time…
Video of the Day: Tekken Movie Trailer
Games and movies are dangerous properties when mixed together, they tend to react badly, causing a convoluted mess as the director tries to add his own “style” to the premise of the film, whilst licensed film tie ins are 95% of the time, bargain bin fodder.
So you can imagine when I saw that they were doing the Tekken Movie, based on a fighting game, I was thrown back to thoughts of the Mortal Combat films, which, after the first one which was passable, quickly went down hill. Although this one looks a bit more based in the real world as opposed to fantasy, it looks insane. For starters, it’s taking the IronFist Tournament away from it’s extravagent locations (one word: Budget) in the game to a pretty dull looking cage fighting area. From what I can gauge from the trailer, it’s one of those ‘Take the initiate/novice dude, enter him in a tournament which everyone think’s he’ll lose, watch him surprise everyone and become the king of IronFist’.
The effects, for starters, look fresh out of 90’s action films and whilst all the familiar characters from the game are there, I have yet to see a Bear. A walking, fighting Bear. And without that, the Tekken Movie is nothing to me. Beside that, let’s be honest. It looks trashy, apart from the actual martial arts parts. I’m sure Matt will want to add a second opinion to what he thinks of this. May even persuade him review it…Heheheheh.
Video of the Day: The A Team Movie
I’ve almost had to post this under duress. I mean, it’s the A-Team for crying out loud, how can I not. The only problem being is that I ain’t really the movie guy round here, so makes it pretty tricky for me to build up a worthy discourse about this. It’s got Liam Neeson in it. I recognise him from loads of films. Erm.
Anyway, what I can do is tell you a little bit of information about what is going here. This new reboot, with a whole new cast (no Mohawk Grenades here) and is being directed by Joe Carnahan. It’s still essentially based on the TV series, with a mixture of action and comedy and is supposed to coming out on the 30th July of this year. If you’re struggling to think of the plot, just listen to the trailer and it explains everything within about 30 seconds.
