For those hoping to shell out on DJ Hero and expected it to be used in a variety of games, first of all, it’s a cut down mixing desk, if you feel like controlling ODST through it, your a better person than me. Secondly, it has been confirmed that it can only be used with the DJ Hero game, and nothing else.
Speaking to Destructoid, Jamie Jackson, creative developer for DJ Hero said that:
“DJ Hero is DJ Hero. If someone needed to use our controller, then they would basically have to rip our game off,”
So, pretty blunt quote from Jackson there, but there isn’t really any announced competitor or rival to DJ Hero, unlike Rock Band and Guitar Hero, who share instruments for the good of all mankind…Obviously. The only other option I can see is that future Guitar Hero’s may have a DJ Hero option, but it is unlikely for anything to be announced for the next few months.
DJ Hero is about £100 at most stores, with a RRP of £109.99, so it is up to you to work out if it’s a good deal or not. If you are in to more of the Hip-hop, R&B, rap etc kind of music, then looks like DJ Hero will fill that need.
