Apparently, there was a 2004 game on the Xbox/PS2/GBA called Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball. I’ve never played it, nor heard anything about it, but when there are games that simulate shooting dudes with real bullets and not paint canisters, I think I know which one I’d pick. So, I’m going to take a wild guess and say it probably wasn’t a commericial or critical hit.

However, that just doesn’t stop some people, so publisher Majesco are bringing out, wait for this now, Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball 2, for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Little information of this hot new release is availible of yet, other than it’s been published, according to Destructoid, by Space X Studios, who have made a photo safari thing for PC, and some other screensaver thing…

We also know that it’s going to have a ‘Cheat meter’ allowing you to ‘wipe’ out fellow paintballers before getting caught. Now, I myself ain’t too ‘up’ on this whole Paintball Tourney, but it’s going to help me by having both single and multiplayer modes based in real life paintball fields, should give me the tactical advantage, should I ever find myself in one.

In honour of this announcement, video of the day is a video, remarkably difficult to find in fact, of the first game. If you are watching the video I posted above (apologies for it not being a direct stream, I just couldn’t find one)…HOW HUGE IS THAT GUN! And are those goggles or a face mask? Then what is gun doing supported by your ears? AND why did they get the voice from the first Dance Dance Revolution game to say something of which I don’t know.  Are real paint ball tournaments truly like this? Do you float over a strange oppressant mud colour, accompanied by a soundtrack more suited to a faulty arcade machine? And why have you come to a paintball match in stone wash jeans and a bomber jacket? Though don’t fret, realism is most defintely catered for in the form of TIPPMANN, “Manufacturer of the 98 Custom, A-5, and the new X7 paintball guns”. Though my final question is, why in all of paintballing are they making another?

So many, many questions.
