RUSE Free Steam WeekendFight in World War II yet again with the help of giant arrows..
Nothing shouts strategy than giant arrows on screen
Fancy playing a bit of a nearly high brow strategy from all the comfort of your World War II command centre, but not willing to quite commit to purchasing Ubisoft’s RTS game yet? Well, if you haven’t had chance to play in the constant Beta’s that have been out and about, there is a free weekend for RUSE this weekend, which you can start pre-loading on Steam really soon, ready for it to go live at around Thursday 11 AM, PDT (6PM GMT).
From what I played of RUSE, I really enjoyed it, but felt it was initially a little bewildering at first, and I felt that it yearned for a Microsoft Surface style interface. If the iPad had a little more juice, then this game would be a pretty good RTS for it, but it’s perfectly playable as a normal strategy title, even if there are the typical tropes that accompany all such games.
The actual game is available for pre-purchase now on Steam, for release in September.

RUSE, a high strategy based title for PC and consoles that looks pretty unique, if Ubisoft can pull it off successfully. In order to do this, they have been running a closed beta for some time using Steam, but according to a twitter post by Ubisoft Community Developer Aymeric Evennou, March 9th is the day you’re going to be able get into large scale military coordination. If that is your thing.
To accompany this, the developer, Eugen Systems, have been working on fixing many of the issues that appeared in the closed beta, and as well as telling you the fixes they have been implementing, you get a lot of footage of the game itself. My feeling is it looks like a World War 2 based Supreme Commander, but with a greater focus on strategy than just as many units as possible.

RUSE is due out on June 3rd 2010 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3
